REPORTS TO : Principal
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Perform clerical responsibilities of a confidential and responsible nature requiring knowledge of systems and procedures in a school environment.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Perform general receptionist duties.
- Perform general bookkeeping duties.
- Answer telephones and screen incoming calls.
- Attend computer and job skills training as requested during work hours.
- Photocopy/collate materials.
- Maintain attendance sheets.
- Type correspondence, memos and other communications.
- Perform other related clerical duties as assigned.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: - Knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices where necessary.
- Proficient in the use of modern office procedures, practices and equipment, including Microsoft Windows'97, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook or whatever is applicable to the specific school.
- Ability to work and make decisions in accordance with rules, regulations and departmental policy and procedures.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff.
- Ability to exercise tact and courtesy in dealing with the public, students, and staff.
- Knowledge of and ability to use Standard English grammar with correct spelling, punctuation and letter form.
- Ability to make basic arithmetical computations and speed and accuracy.
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED supplemented by business courses.
- Ability to work under stressful conditions and work within difficult time constraints.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse groups.

SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT : Salary in accordance with Hartford Federation of School Secretaries, 2018-2024 Salary Grid (095-12), $41,000-$56,105. Twelve-month work year
