Position Summary The Department of Anthropology at Smith College invites applications for a one‑year, benefits‑eligible position at the rank of Lecturer to begin July 1, 2026. Teaching Responsibilities Teach five courses across two semesters, including Introduction to Cultural Anthropology at least once per semester. Other courses may be taught depending on the candidate’s field of specialization. Qualifications Ph.D. in Anthropology or a relevant field, expected by the time of appointment. Strong foundation in cultural anthropology. Topical and area expertise that complements the department’s strengths and offerings. Applicants from groups underrepresented in academe are encouraged to apply. Compensation and Benefits Pay range: $74,200 – $76,200 per year, varying by qualifications.
