JB for Governor is seeking a Vertical Video Producer for the 2026 campaign cycle. This role is embedded within the digital team and focused on producing high-volume, fast-turn short-form video content that performs natively on social platforms. This is a content role for someone who understands the pace of the internet and what content thrives. Location: Chicago, IL Department: Digital Reports to: Senior Content Strategist Salary range: $62,000 - $84,000 per year, based on experience Key Responsibilities Produce a consistent, high volume of vertical video content (TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts) on rapid timelines Clip and repurpose footage from TV appearances, podcast interviews, press conferences, and live events into platform-ready social content Monitor trends, sounds, formats, and cultural moments in real time — and move fast when there's an opportunity to participate Execute on video concepts developed in collaboration with the wider digital team, bringing strong instincts on hooks, pacing, captions, and platform-native formats Support rapid response efforts with fast-turn video content — sometimes within the hour Travel with the candidate and team to capture content at major events as needed Maintain an organized library of footage, clips, and assets for ongoing use Monitor video performance and apply learnings to improve output About You You understand the internet: you don't just know the trends, you saw them before they were trends You think in hooks. You know within the first two seconds whether something is going to hold attention or lose it You are fast. You understand that a clipped moment has a shelf life of hours, not days, and you act accordingly You are comfortable taking clear direction and executing it quickly: you don't need to own the concept to make it great Your instinct is social-first. You're not precious about production quality; you're obsessed with what actually performs You can move between "pull this clip and post it" and "here's a trend we should jump on" without losing a beat You are comfortable being in front of the camera when needed or lending narration to make a good video You understand that on a campaign, speed and accuracy are non-negotiable at the same time Preferred Skills & Qualifications Demonstrated experience creating high-performing short-form video content for TikTok, Instagram Reels, or YouTube Shorts. Campaign, marketing, media, or creator background all considered Proficiency in CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro or similar editing tools Experience clipping and repurposing footage from live broadcasts, interviews, or events Strong understanding of platform-specific best practices: hooks, captions, audio trends, pacing, safe zones Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver under tight, sometimes immediate deadlines Experience filming on mobile and/or DSLR in fast-moving, uncontrolled environments Familiarity with paid social video formats a plus Personal creator presence a plus To Apply Please submit your resume along with 2–3 examples of vertical video content you have created.
