Location Siouxland Community Health Center, 1021 Nebraska St, Sioux City, IA 51105, USA Responsibilities Successful candidate must be able to perform primary functions of the position: Provide translation services and support the non-English speaking patients and their families during their clinical visit Works directly with medical staff to ensure accurate communication and understanding between patient and staff Assists patients in completing all necessary intake forms at initial visit, including but not limited to, demographic and medical history, and financial verification Assists social service worker and patient in completing the social service intake process Travel to local agencies or hospitals to provide interpreting services as needed These functions are not all inclusive Requirements / Qualifications Successful candidate must have solid experience and advanced knowledge of: Fluency in verbal, reading, and written bilingual communication skills – Spanish & English Basic computer and data entry skills Knowledge of cultural barriers to medical care and ability to diminish barriers on the patients’ and SCHC’s behalf Knowledge of medical terminology in Spanish and in English High school diploma or GED Preferred Attributes Dedicated: Devoted to a task or purpose with loyalty or integrity Team Player: Works well as a member of a group Detail Oriented: Capable of carrying out a given task with all details necessary to get the task done well Ability to Make an Impact: Inspired to perform well by the ability to contribute to the success of a project or the organization Benefits Pre-employment drug screen, background check, and review of required immunizations (exemptions may be granted for religious or medical accommodation) Equal Opportunity Employer Siouxland Community Health Center provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to any characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
