We are California-Asian restaurant and event space currently undergoing an exciting reconceptualization, and we're looking for a visionary culinary leader to help shape what's next.

We are seeking a talented and driven Head Chef de Cuisine with a strong foundation in Californian - Asian Fusion with emphasis in Japanese and Vietnamese cuisine to lead our culinary program across both restaurant service and small to large-scale catering and private events. The right candidate will have vision for scalability and brings passion for healthy, farm-to-table cooking grounded in California's seasonal ingredients. Just as important, this person understands how to build systems, structure kitchens, and create consistency for growth .

This is a hands-on leadership role for a builder and systems-thinker who is energized by evolving a beloved concept into something scalable and lasting. You will oversee a bustling gourmet casual dining experience serving the surrounding Silicon Beach tech community, a growing Happy Hour program, and a robust private events business set within our unique indoor and outdoor herb garden.

We are looking for a strong culinary leader and team builder to help shape the next phase of Tiato.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead kitchen operations, including prep, line execution, and service standards
  • Manage and develop kitchen team (hiring, training, scheduling, performance)
  • Oversee execution of both daily restaurant service and high-volume catering/events
  • Drive seasonal menu development and health-forward sensibility
  • Drive consistency, quality, and efficiency across all culinary output
  • Manage food cost, pricing, and inventory using Excel, Margin Edge or similar systems
  • Build and maintain prep systems, production sheets, and ordering guides
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards
  • Maintain organization, cleanliness, and strong kitchen systems
  • Partner with ownership on operational improvements, concept development, and multi-unit growth strategy

 

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in a leadership role (Chef de Cuisine, Executive Sous Chef, or similar)
  • Strong background in high-volume kitchens and catering/event production
  • Proficient in Excel (required) – comfortable with costing, spreadsheets, and formulas
  • Strong knowledge of Asian Cooking, ideally Japanese, and Vietnamese cooking with a healthy conscious approach
  • Experience with food costing, inventory systems, and purchasing
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and hold a team accountable
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, and Weekends
  • ServSafe Certification (or ability to obtain)

  • SALARY or $30 – $45 per hour (DOE) PLUS Bonuses
