Assistant Athletic Director for Equipment Apply now Job no: 510811 Position type: Full-Time 12-Month Department: 890118 - Athletics - Equipment Room Location: Main Campus - Starkville, MS Categories: Professional Position Open Date: Jun 10 2026 Position Function: Responsible for the overall purchasing, inventory, and distribution of athletic equipment for all student‑athletes and coaches. Responsibilities: Oversees day‑to‑day operation of the equipment room(s) to include supervision of full time assistants, fellows/graduate assistants, and student managers. Responsible for creation and management of department budget, including unit operating budget and apparel provider contractual allocation. Advise and assist in the ordering of Adidas apparel and purchasing of other necessary equipment for all sports and departments. Oversee Athletic Department shipping and receiving and maintain detailed inventory records for all equipment and Adidas apparel. Assist in management of promotional contracts with equipment and jersey manufacturers. Complies with all applicable National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) andSoutheastern Conference (SEC) regulations in the performance of job duties. Performs related duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibility This position will supervise all full-time, part-time, and student support staff within the unit. The above essential duties are representative of major duties of positions in this position. Specific duties and responsibilities may vary based upon departmental needs. Other duties may be assigned to the above consistent with the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job. Not all of the duties may be assigned to a position. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Sports Administration, Business Administration, Management or related field with three (3) year of experience in related field. Certification or Licensure Requirements Commercial Driver’s License eligible; must be certified by AEMA or working towards certification. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to work long and irregular hours. Ability to travel. Ability to work in extreme temperatures. Working Conditions and Physical Effort Regularly involves lifting, bending or other physical exertion. Often exposed to one or more elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, etc. with one to the point of being objectionable. Injuries may require professional treatment. Job frequently requires standing, walking, sitting, reaching, stooping/kneeling/ crouching/ crawling. Talking. Hearing, handling objects with hands, and lifting up to 10 pounds. Job occasionally requires climbing or balancing, and lifting more than 100 pounds. Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
